Obituary for Irene Elizabeth Rogers (Shoemaker)

Irene Elizabeth Rogers, 87, of Inwood, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 8, 2021, at her home.

Born October 4, 1933, in Moorefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late James “Arnold” Shoemaker and Otie Fleming Shoemaker.

She was a member of the Mountain View Church of the Brethren; Irene’s family was one of the founding families of Fellowship Church of the Brethren. She loved bowling and belonged to a local bowling league. She enjoyed working as a waitress at the Charles Town Race Track. Irene loved selling Avon for over 30 years and was a member of Avon’s Presidents Club.

Irene is survived by two grandchildren, Nathan Rogers and wife, Ashley, Vanessa Stone and husband, Drew; ten great grandchildren, Logan, Alisha, Megan, Dominic, Agatha, Alvin, Aubreigh, Austin, Emalie, and Amelia; one sister, Elsie Rinker; and a nephew, Bobby Clever.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Donald William Rogers; daughter, Donna Rogers; son, Michael Rogers; eight brothers; and two sisters.

The Brown Funeral Home will be open for family to receive friends only from the hours of 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens with Pastor Mike Staubs officiating.
