Obituary for Herbert Daniel Kistler

Herbert Daniel Kistler, born in Washington, DC on July 3, 1940 died March 31, 2023
in Martinsburg, West Virginia. His parents were Herbert Donald and Phyllis
Belangie Kistler.

He attended Saint Thomas Apostle Grade School in Washington, DC and The Phelps
(boarding) School in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

After volunteering and serving in the United States Army in Germany, Herbert drove
his own independent taxicab in the DC Metro Area, became a Railroad travel advisor
at Union Station and then a clerk at the Potomac Yard in Alexandria. He worked at
the Department of Interior for 40-years. His last job was in the mail room at the US
Coast Guard in Martinsburg, VA.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rita Clapp Kistler and his sister, Margaret
Kistler Jackson of Locust Grove, VA.

Anyone who knew Herbert became aware of his masterful memory whether it be
quoting from the Bible or explaining railroad history, or remembering family events
with all the names and dates. In other words, he could hold court in interesting
conversations no matter where he was, all a unique gift which we will miss dearly.

Always his heart was centered on loving our Lord and his wife, Rita.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 11:00 at Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church, 2251 Williamsport Pike, Martinsburg, WV 25404.

Entombment will be in Maranatha Memorial Gardens.
