Obituary for GySgt. Nyle Eugene Bland
GySgt. Nyle Eugene Bland, US Marines, Retired, 87, of Martinsburg passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022 at Berkeley Medical Center.
Born April 14, 1935 in New Martinsville, WV he was the son of the late Clarence Earl Bland and Nelle Kathleen Raper Bland.
After retirement from the US Marines, he worked for the Veterans Administration for twenty years. He served as Elder and Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church. He loved reading, history and music; and rarely could be found without a book.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Alberta Sadler Bland; three daughters, Cheryl Lynne Howe, Carol Jeanne Hansen (Tom), and Nyla Ellyn Ashton (Ray); three grandchildren, Justin Howe, Lauren Trego (Jamie), Aaron Ashton (Lindsay); four great-grandchildren, Wesley, Emma, Addison, and Marlee; and a brother, Stephen Bland and sister-in-law Donna.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Rufus Burton officiating at the First Presbyterian Church, 220 S. Queen St., Martinsburg, WV 25401.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
