Obituary for Genevieve Louise Zirk (Heming)
Genevieve Louise Zirk,85, of Bunker Hill, WV, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility.
Born June 13, 1937 in Bedford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Patrick Vernon Heming and Helen Margaret Heming Reichert.
She was a graduate from Kings Daughter's School of Nursing in 1959; and earned her master’s degree in nursing from West Virginia University.
She was a registered nurse and also taught licensed practical nurse courses at the James Rumsey Vocational Institute from 1980-2002 when she retired.
She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church; the Moose Lodge; the VFW; the American Legion; and the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Sorority.
Jeanne is survived by one son, Michael Scott Zirk and wife, Christine; one daughter, Kim Louise Zirk; two brothers, Patrick Heming and Joseph William Heming; and one sister, Sandra K. Kelly.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Joan Birch.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at St. Leo Catholic Church with Father Alfred Obiudu celebrant.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment prayers will be said in St. Leo Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities of your choice or Hospice of the Panhandle.
