Obituary for Genevieve Louise Hedges (Siler)
Genevieve Louise Siler Hedges, 91, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD.
Born March 7, 1930 in Berkeley County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Harry Williams and Mary Susan Stephens Siler.
She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School Class of 1948.
She was retired from the First Baptist Church, where she had served as church secretary for 22 years.
Also, as a member of the Winchester Avenue Christian Church, she was the Deaconess of the I.C. Busy Sunday School Class. Additionally, she was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship, where she served as treasurer for 7 years; and she was a volunteer at Loaves & Fishes.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James William Hedges; her brother, David Eugene Siler, Sr.; and her niece, Donna Jean Siler.
The Brown Funeral Home will be open for family to receive friends only from the hours of 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday, April 2, 2021. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 11:00AM with Pastor Benjamin Manning officiating at Winchester Avenue Christian Church, 400 Winchester Avenue, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
