Obituary for Garry James Murphy

Garry James Murphy, born October 24, 1938, passed away February 16, 2021. He was the son of the late James Fay Murphy and Gladys Mae Pearrell Murphy.

Survived by his wife, Darla Jean Stotler-Murphy, married September 19, 1964; a sister, Patricia Fay Murphy-Dillon; nephew, James David Dillon; step-brother-in-law, Charles, and Sylvia Pickett: their children, James and Teresa Pickett, their children, Rachel and Audrey, Thomas, and Anne Pickett: their children, Katelyn, Jacob, and Zachary; and many cousins.

He was a graduate of Hedgesville High School (Class of 1956), member of the Hedgesville United Methodist Church (60 years +), and the WV Air National Guard. Garry was retired from Mack Trucking-Designer Engineer Dept. (2001) 32 years. He was a collector of Antique Cars since he was 15 years old; a Founder and Life-member of Norwalk Antique Car Club Inc. (38 years), and a member of the Norwalk Foundation. He also was a Board member of the Washington County Rural Heritage Museum, Docent-friends of the Rural Heritage Museum, former member of the Norwalk Soap Box Derby, life-member of AACA-AACA Judge, ASE certified, Mason-Dixon Region AACA, Gettysburg Region AACA, Shenandoah Region AACA, Model A and Model T Club (50 years), Cushman Club, and the Berkeley County Historical Society.

The Brown Funeral Home will be open for family to receive friends only from the hours of 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 19, 2021. Visitors will be required to wear a face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the funeral home with Chaplain Tony Pirrone officiating.

Interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery.
