Obituary for Floyd Nelson "Butch" Gray, Jr.
Floyd “Butch” N. Gray Jr. 74 of Hedgesville WV. passed away peacefully on January 9, 2023, at The Hospice of the Panhandle in Kearneysville.
Born August 8, 1948, in Martinsburg WV. He is the son of Floyd Nelson Gray Sr., the late Katherine Ellen Schill and stepson to the late Barbara J. Gray.
He is survived by his wife Kiz Ann Burd Gray, daughter April Gray and fiancé Brian, son Eric Gray and wife Laura, sister Kay Hawvermale and husband Bob, Grandchildren Zackery Markley and wife Kasey, Troy Markley and wife Amber, Lindsay Gray and Lee, Zane Vandevander, Karis Gray, Gradyn Weber, and Eilah Gray. Great Grandchildren Preston, Vayda, and Leah Markley.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1973, serving with the 3rd Engineering Demolition Squad in Vietnam from 1968-1969.
He retired from Capital Cement (Essroc) after 32 years.
His character was one of great pride in being a true friend, a wonderful friend, a loving father, and husband to his family. A true Marine spirit through and through until the end. He left this world being a child of God.
He is preceeded in death by his first wife and mother of his children Pamela Diane Gray, his brother Joseph E. Gray, his sister-in-law Tina Bowman and her husband Shane Bowman and niece Tammy Pennesi.
Family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg WV on January 17, 2023, from 6-8 PM. Funeral Services will be held January 18, 2023, at 11AM with visitation one hour prior to service with Pastor Tom Snyder officiating. Fellowship gathering following the graveside service at Tomahawk Ruritan.
