Obituary for Elizabeth Kaye Washington

Elizabeth Kaye Washington, 60, of Bunker Hill passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021.

Born July 3, 1960 in Martinsburg she was the daughter of the late James Oscar Washington and Estella Mae Dokes.

Kaye graduated from Musselman High School in 1978. She received a degree from James Rumsey Technical College for Nursing Assistant. Kaye worked at Jefferson Memorial Hospital for many years. She later worked in her family business before going to work in Administration for Berkeley County Schools. Kaye was last employed at Bunker Hill Elementary School. Kaye loved being a grandmother with all her heart.

She is survived by her son, Sidney Devonshire, III; a grandchild, Darante White; a brother, James Edward Washington; three sisters, Ethel Eyer (Brian), Mary Ann Ballard (Gary), Barbara A. Marshall (Leo); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela K. Devonshire; and a grandson, Andre White, Jr.

The Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood will be open for family to receive friends only from the hours of 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, May 14, 2021. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at the chapel on Friday, May 14, 2021 with Rev. Arthur J. Patterson officiating. Interment will be held at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
