Obituary for Donald Lee Butts

Donald Lee Butts passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loved ones on July 11, 2022, he was 87 years old. Donald was born to the late Leonard and Dorothy Butts (Bageant).

Donald is survived by his wife Gloria Butts (Burke), one daughter, Donna DeLauney and son in law, Michael DeLauney. He also leaves behind two granchildren, Stephanie Thomas and spouse Kenny Thomas and Andrew DeLauney and spouse Maria DeLauney (Barthlow). Four great grandchildren, Lexus (23), Michael (18), Nathan (16), and Zachary (10). He is also survived by one brother, Charles Butts and four sisters, Judy Fox, Lucille Grimes, Deanie Mahoney, and Mary (Snookie) Shawyer.

Donald served almost 42 years in the United States Air Force and the 167th Air National Guard. During Donald’s services he was active in the fire department and transportation maintenance. Donald was an expert mechanic and received numerous awards for his jobs well done. Donald retired as Senior Master Sergeant in May 1995, from his military family and then went on to begin his life spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. After retirement Donald spent his spare time doing woodwork and painting, enjoyed hunting, and mowing. One of Donald’s favorite things was to gather to make apple butter in the fall of the year and barbecues in the summer. Donald was a family-oriented person and loved every minute with his family.

Donald was a kind and generous man. He simply died as he lived. He was a hard worker, dedicated father and grandfather, loving husband, and all-around kind of man.
Donald’s wish was to be cremated.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Carol Williams officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
