Obituary for David Leroy Leonard

David Leroy Leonard, 77, of Martinsburg, passed at home surrounded by his loving family where he gained his heavenly wings on Friday, February 5, 2021.

Born February 15, 1943 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Frank Leonard and Elsie Reid Leonard.

He served in the Air Guard for seven years and retired from ESSROC. He was a member of the House of the Lord. David was a selfless person who always put others ahead of himself. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and provider.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Lou Stewart Leonard; a daughter, Wendy Miller; a grandchild, James “JD” Miller and fiancé, Hailey Lawson; sisters-in-law, Glenna, and Sandy Leonard, and Mary Stewart; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kitty and Jerry Horner; and a beloved grand dog, Spud.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Frank Jr., Charles, James, Harry “Gus” and Benjamin “Jack” Leonard; and three sisters, Nettie Wills, Sue Thorpe and Jane Shifflett.

The Brown Funeral Home will be open for family to receive friends only from the hours of 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday, February 13, 2021 with Pastor Dave Caplinger officiating.

Interment will be at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of the Panhandle, friends, and family that helped with David.
