Obituary for Charles Ray "Buster" Elliott

Charles Ray Elliott, “Buster,” 76, of Summit Point, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 while at home and surrounded by his loving family. Born December 7, 1946, in Gerrardstown, he was the son of the late Amiel Ray Elliott and Carrie Elizabeth Chapman Elliott.

Buster was of the Baptist faith. He was a hardworking man who loved his family. He enjoyed hunting, farming, and working with farm animals. He was the owner of Elliott’s Contracting for more than 30 years and before that had worked for the Charles Town Race Track, where he exercised horses and worked on the starting gate.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Spinks Elliott; one son, Michael Elliott, and fiancé Tiffany of Summit Point; three daughters, Tracey Seal, and husband Michael, of Kearneysville, Sherrie Haynes, and husband William, of Harpers Ferry, and Tammy Fultz, and husband Donnie, of Charles Town; one brother, Amiel Elliott, “Jr,” and wife Karen, of Falling Waters; one sister, Joyce Elliott, of Kearneysville; 12 grandchildren: Ashley, Shane, Phillip, Amanda, Michael Christopher, Brooke, Michael Jr, Heaven, Bailey, Tristen, Logan, and Haylee, and 14 great grandchildren: Addyson, Ezekiel, Caden, Tucker, McKinlee, Harper, Willow, Elaina, Colton, Zedekiah, Amora, Laine, Summer, and Sierra.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Roy Elliott and William Elliott, and four sisters: Eleanor Arbogast, Marie King, Rebecca Wyndham, and Christine “Blinker” Owens.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor George T. Schramm officiating. Interment will be in the Middleway Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday at the Chapel.
