Obituary for Carl Conrad Ay, Jr.

Carl Conrad Ay, Jr., 78, of Clear Brook, VA passed away Wednesday, August 31,2022 at his home under the care of Hospice.

Born June 14,1944 in Baltimore, MD he was the son of the late Carl Conrad Ay, Sr. And Norma Landis.

Carl was a member of Kernstown United Methodist Church. He attended Kenwood High School in Baltimore County and University of Maryland at College Park. He served in the army from 1967-1970 while stationed at Natick Labs in Mass. In 1968 he married Carole King.

Once out of the military he moved to Frederick County, VA to hog and cattle farm. In 1985 he started a landscape business that developed into what is now known as Colonial Farm Nursery in Martinsburg, WV. He was a member of Shenandoah Region Car Club and Shenandoah Valley Nursery and Greenhouse Association.

He is survived by his wife Carole Ay; sons, Carl Conrad Ay III (Carla); and Bret Ethan Ay (Christine); brother, Jack Ay and sister, Barbara McCready.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Pastor Gary Heaton officiating.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Blue Ridge Hospice.
