Obituary for Brenda Lee Koontz (Butts)
Brenda L. Butts Koontz, 59, of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 8, 2021.
Born May 7, 1961 she was the daughter of Shirley Butts and the late James F. Butts, Jr.
Brenda was a member of the House of the Lord Church, where she taught the preschool class for 30+ years. She worked with intellectually disabled people for 20+ years. She was a volunteer with the Special Olympics for several years.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Koontz, one daughter, Ashley Fowler and husband, Chris, two grandsons, Braydin and Declin Fowler, two brothers, Robert Butts and wife, Heather, and Kevin Butts and girlfriend Carrie, two nieces, Lillie Butts, boyfriend, Ryan, and Jenna Butts, one brother-in-law, Travis Cookus, nephew Hayden Cookus, and special cousins, Scott Holben and wife, Stacey and their daughters, Carly and Kendall, Misty Wardwell and husband, Duane and Misty’s son, Taylor “Jake” Holben, his wife, Nikole, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Terri Cookus.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at The House of the Lord Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics of West Virginia, 3055 CO Rte 34/14, Hurricane, WV 25526.
