Obituary for Billy Joe Edwards
Billy Joe Edwards, 90, of Kearneysville, WV, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
Born May 3, 1931 in Bakersville, NC, he was the son of the late Floyd Glen Edwards 4/29/1904 to 12/31/1983 and Mae Childers Edwards 4/9/1908 to 12/31/2004.
Billy retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force. He worked in the JAG office and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He also worked at Bethlehem Steel, Dixie Narco and retired as Postmaster in Ranson, WV. In his final retirement, he loved working on his farm and helping others. He volunteered at Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Come All Who Are Thirsty Veterans Group. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Neleta Monroe, Janna Colledge (Grant), Randy Edwards (Dona), Janene Cullen (Ken), Jancie Dschaak (Bruce); 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a brother, Johnny Wayne Edwards born in 1936; a sister, Anna Sue Hall born in 1939; and two former wives, Joanna Robbins, and Nancy Anderson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Edwards on 1/2019, and Wade Edwards 6/2019; and three infant sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 614 Lane Oak Road, PO Box 336, Ranson, WV, 25438.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 565, Charles Town, WV, 25414.
