Billie Godwin passed away peacefully on Friday, December, 9th 2022 at the age of 92. She was surrounded by close family during her final hours. She was born on September 6th, 1930 in Greene County, Tennessee.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William Godwin and her daughter, Kitty Pope, of Sterling, VA.
Billie is survived by her sons and their spouses William Zachary (Zack) Godwin and his wife, Deborah Poole Godwin of Cherryville, NC, William Christopher (Chris) Godwin and his wife, Sharon Godwin of Summit Point, WV, and Billy Joe Godwin and his wife, Mildret Godwin of Johnson City, TN.
She leaves behind her grandchildren Tina Pope, Ryan Pope, James Hyman, Joshua Godwin, Melissa McKahan, Laura Godwin, Stacie Godwin, Daniel Godwin, Tammy Arrowood, Chad Arrowood, and Joseph Godwin. Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandchildren Alyssa Winters, Matthew Sarol, Toni Sarol, Chloe Godwin, Austin Godwin, Layne Godwin, Gracee Godwin, Maximus Hose, Liam Arrowood, Ace Arrowood, Daxon Arrowood, Elyse Hyman, Bella Hyman, Jacob Hyman, Ana Hyman, Gabriel Hyman, and Delilah Hyman.
Billie spent her childhood working on a farm in Greene County, Tennessee. As a result, she developed a lifelong work ethic. She enjoyed bird-watching, gardening, attending church, and spending time with her family and friends. Her family remembers her giving nature and vibrant spirit. She spent her life as a caretaker to many people, and her children and grandchildren delighted in her southern cooking and hospitality. Billie was stylish and timeless. She was a dedicated Christian who was committed to her faith and church.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 12:00pm at First Baptist Church of Inwood in Inwood, WV.
