Obituary for Betty Jean Hollis (Fansler)

Betty Jean Hollis, 93, of Gerrardstown passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Canterbury Center in Shepherdstown.

Born October 2, 1927 in Berkeley County, WV, she was the daughter of William Fansler and Bessie Braithwaite Fansler who passed when she was ten years old. She was then taken in and raised by John and Mary Kensel of Nipe Town.

Betty retired from the United States Postal Service in Gerrardstown as an assistant Postmaster. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by one son, Parron Hollis and wife, Dianna; one daughter, Connie Parsons and husband, Darrell; three grandchildren, Scott Parsons, Erika Parson, and Jennifer Lipscomb, and husband, Ryan. Betty was known as GG to her great granddaughters, Riley, and Fallon; and nieces, and nephews who were special to her.

In addition to her parents, and foster parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Hollis; brother, Donald Fansler, two half brothers, William, and Rusty Walker; and grandson, Anthony Cogle.

The Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood will be open for family to receive friends only from the hours of 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2021. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 at the chapel with Pastor David Palmer officiating. Interment will be in Gerrardstown Presbyterian Cemetery.
