Betty Jo Wagoner, 83, of Martinsburg, WV passed away peacefully on May 25, 2021, while under the care of Hospice at Elmcroft Assisted Living. Born September 28, 1937 in Mingo Flats, WV; she was the daughter of the late John Henry Queen and Eliza Jane (Hall) Queen.
Betty graduated from West Virginia University where she earned a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree. She spent her career as a home extension agent for West Virginia University, beginning in Mineral County and ending in Wyoming County. However, for more than 20 years she was the extension agent for Berkeley County.
Upon her retirement, she returned to Martinsburg where she was actively involved with her church, First Presbyterian of Martinsburg. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a huge fan of watching football, car racing, and golf.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wagoner, a brother, David Queen, and a sister, Sarah Queen Pasman.
She leaves behind her youngest sister, Mary Ellen McGraw (husband Bruce) of La Quinta, CA, her nieces Lisa Poland (husband Buzz) of Martinsburg; Laura Rutherford (husband Tim) of Owings Mills, MD; Linda Queen of Yorktown, VA; Deborah Kaita of Boerne, TX; and her nephew James Matthews (wife Kristen) of Lake Forest, CA.
A private memorial service is planned for the family.
