Obituary for Betty Jean Butler (Greenfield)

Betty Jean (Greenfield) Butler, 71, of Martinsburg passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at her home after a long battle with cancer.

Born July 8, 1949 in Martinsburg, WV she was the daughter of the late Vernon William Greenfield and Mary Charlotte Haines Greenfield.

Betty worked numerous jobs including her favorite place, Crowell’s Convenience Store in Martinsburg West Virginia, she was a hard worker. A great love of her life was a love of animals, especially her kitties, they were her adopted children. Everyone that met her loved her, she would help anybody, and loved her family dearly.

She is survived by her four children, Michele J. Harris, Marlo McGurgan, Joe Cole, and Richard Cole; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Pat Everitts, and Marilyn Light; and a brother, Charles “Tom” Greenfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Butler, Sr.; and three brothers, Vernon W. Greenfield, Jr., Richard L. Greenfield, and Larry D. Greenfield.

The Brown Funeral Home will be open for family to receive friends only from the hours of 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 25, 2021. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
