Obituary for Bernice Marie Shifflett (Weakley)
Bernice Marie Shifflett, 81, of Martinsburg went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 3, 2021 at her home.
Born September 9, 1939 in Green County, VA she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Della Weakley.
Bernice was a member of the Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church. She loved going to church and enjoyed her church family. She was a homemaker and loved being one. She loved to cook and enjoyed word search puzzles. She enjoyed birdwatching and fed them daily. She loved flowers and butterflies and her favorite color was purple. She was a beautiful mother inside and out and loved spending time with her family who she adored. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and all of her children.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Gary Shifflett, Stephen Shifflett, Linda Mondragon, Connie and Kenny Mason, Wanda and Stormy Barrett, Kathy and David Minghini, Ronnie and Vanessa Shifflett, Jeff and Denise Shifflett, Lisa and Rick Hickerson, John Ollie, Jr. and Sherry Shifflett, Christopher Shifflett, and her granddaughter who she raised Christina and husband Edward Dawson
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ollie Shifflett, Sr.; one granddaughter, Stevie Lynn Hess, two daughters in law, Linda Shifflett and Brenda James; three brothers, Earl, Charlie and Harold Weakley; two sisters, Jean Yowell and Ellen Lamb.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.
Service will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Corey Bane officiating.
Entombment will be in Maranatha Memorial Gardens.
Pall Bearers will be Christopher Shifflett, Russell Livingood, Roger Livingood, Nathan Mondragon, Ryan Shifflett and Matthew Shifflett.
