Obituary for Barbara Jean Sims (Thompson)

Barbara Jean Sims, 89, of Inwood, WV, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Shenandoah Center.

Born February 8, 1931 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Edmond Thompson and Jessie Catherin (Livingston) Thompson.

She was employed as a receptionist at H&R Block and was a member of South Berkeley Baptist Church. Additionally, she was a PASS volunteer and a crafter.

She is survived by two daughters, Terri J. Martin of Inwood, and Bonnie J. Hutchinson of Port Republic, VA; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Volney Sims; a son, James William Sims; and a brother, Walter E. Thompson., Jr.

The Brown Funeral Home will only be open for family to receive friends only from the hours of 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Brian Shoda officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
