Obituary for Barbara Ann Johnston

Barbara Ann (Bosely) Johnston, 74, of Martinsburg, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Born November 9, 1946 in Pasadena, MD she was the daughter of the late Herbert Gaylord Bosely and Iva Serepta (Gibson) Bosely.

Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her eyes would light up when she saw her great granddaughter and she enjoyed every minute of time she had with her. She had five children and loved having the large family gatherings around the holidays. Christmas was her favorite time of year but we often celebrated later in January and February so we could coordinate longer family time around work schedules. She loved cooking for our family gatherings. Her family was her heart and soul. She even stated she only wanted to get better so she could be the mother to her children that she had always been. She had an infectious laugh and great sense of humor. Her mind was always sharp and enjoyed having long conversations around the clock with her children as they drove to and from work. We each had our slotted check in times for daily talks with mom. She was so immensely proud of each of her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter.

She enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts, so she naturally appreciated beauty in things made by hand. Being an avid gardener, she would try to be surrounded by plants of all kinds wherever she lived. If there was dirt, she would plant something and will it to grow. She was a member of 365 Church in Martinsburg and only saw the good in every person she met. She served as a witness and would encourage them to develop a relationship with God. One of her wishes was to make sure everyone knew she was not perfect, but she was loved by God.

Ms. Johnston is survived by her two daughters: Laurie and Roland Rhinehart (spouse) of Hedgesville, Rebecca and Todd Finney (spouse) of Davin; two sons, James and Michael Johnston of Baltimore; and four grandchildren: Steven Scanlon, Coy Rhinehart, Jasmine Rhinehart with Brittany Shawyer (significant other), and Takaila Rhinehart; one great granddaughter Alani Rhinehart.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Johnston; her grandson Ethan Rhinehart and her beloved canine companion, TiTi.
