Obituary for Alice Elizabeth Mickelinc

Alice Elizabeth Hollis Mickelinc, of Martinsburg, WV and most recently a resident of Coffman Nursing Home, Hagerstown MD, passed from this life on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown MD. She passed peacefully with family by her side.

Born November 24, 1928 in Martinsburg WV, she was the daughter of Dora Hollis and Charles Hollis. Alice lived her entire life, until 2017, in Martinsburg and was proud to be a West Virginian.

She was a faithful member of Winchester Ave Christian Church where she also raised her children. She was a member of the I.C. Bucy Sunday School class and served for many years as a deaconess.

In her early years she worked at the Perfection Garment, Newberry’s 5 & 10 and later at Ruby’s Tots to Teens and Garners Ladies Shop in downtown Martinsburg.

Alice was so kind and friendly and didn’t know a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. She loved baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals were her team. Her love of the baseball team sparked a love for her collection of cardinals, many, many cardinals!

While Alice loved her children, she would always say there was something special about being a grandma. She adored all of her grandchildren, those far and near. They were special to her, as she was to them.

She led a simple but happy life. She loved her house and especially her backyard and flowers. Her happiest days were when she was able to sit on her back porch. She took bus trips and played bingo and enjoyed coffee with friends. She was blessed.

Alice is survived by her children, Steven Mickelinc of Philippi, WV, Mark Mickelinc and wife Alexandra of Marshfield, ME, Nancy Eichelberger and husband Chuck of Hagerstown, MD; her brother Richard Painter and wife Karen of Rohrersville, MD; grandchildren, Jeremy Mickelinc and wife Tabitha of Strasburg, VA, Justin Mickelinc of California, McKenzie Golden and husband Jeremy of Hagerstown, MD, Kate Mickelinc of Portland, ME, Charlotte Mickelinc of Old Orchard Beach, ME, Cameryn Eichelberger of Hagerstown, MD. Great grandchildren, Austin, Landen, William, Nina and Sloane Hollis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Steve Mickelinc on June 30, 1993; siblings, Charles Hollis, Maze Anna Castleman and Joyce Carter; grandson Eric and 2 great grandchildren, Sarah and Brady. Also, a very special niece, Sandra Norton. Alice is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
