Obituary for Alice Blanche Cave-Dombrowsky (McKenzie)

Alice Blanche McKenzie Cave Dombrowsky, 80, of Martinsburg, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 at her residence.

Born September 3, 1939 in Cresaptown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. McKenzie and Nellie R. (Deneen) McKenzie.

Alice was a registered nurse for 40 plus years with Dr. Alex Wanger where she assisted in the delivery and care of many infant births. She was a graduate of Kings Daughter’s Hospital Nursing School and a nurse and volunteer with Hospice of the Panhandle and a member of Tuscarora Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia L. Cave, Donna M. Cave Cobean and Dorothy R. Pownall and husband, Don; one son, Douglas G. Cave; three grandchildren, Kayla E. Frankenberry and husband, Cody Frankenberry, Alicia R. Pownall and Anna L. Pownall; five great grandchildren, Resley W. Frankenberry, John C. Frankenberry, Aubrey L. Pownall, Asher W. Pownall and Emmitt J. Pownall; one brother, John Fred McKenzie and wife, Chong; one sister, Janet Durst and husband, Bruce.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Donald J. Cave and John P. Dombrowsky; one son, John W. Cave; one brother, William “Bill” G. McKenzie; and sister, Judith Elaine Brown.

Family will receive friends Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Rachel Crumley and Rev. Brad Langdon officiating.

Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
