Obituary for Gerald W. Oates

Gerald W. Oates, 80, of Kearneysville, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020.

Born on December 21, 1939 in Winchester, VA, he was the son of the late George E. Pulley and Odessa I. Oates Ambrose.

Gerald was a veteran of the US Navy having served on the Destroyer Escort USS John A. Bole

He was employed at Corning and retired from General Motors.

Gerald enjoyed coaching little league. He was a duckpin bowler for twenty-five years. He was an avid hunter and was a season ticket holder for the Washington Redskins. He was a motorcycle rider, and rode across the country multiple times.

He is survived by one son, Tony Oates and wife, Barbie; their children, Bobby V. Randolph III and wife, Dara, Brittany N. Williams and husband, Garrett, Taylor D. Boyd, and husband, Nathan; one daughter Sherry Robinson and husband, Eric, their children, Trina D. Elliott and husband, Randall, Amanda D. Nichols, Erica D. Robinson and fiancé Matthew Farrell, Dakota D. Robinson; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Naomi Mae Oates who passed away in 2018.

Services and interment will be private.
