Obituary for Rita A. Cheeseman
Rita A. Cheeseman, 64, of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 20, 2019. Born on July 27, 1955, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Paul G. Choiniere.
She is survived by her mother, Edith “Shirley” (McDougal) Choiniere of Martinsburg; one sister Evelyn Choiniere of Martinsburg; two brothers, Ralph Choiniere and his wife Ann of Rouses Point, NY, and David G. Choiniere and his wife Melody of Hedgesville; niece Sarah LaDuke of Rouses Point, NY; nephews, David P. Choiniere and his wife Amy of Hedgesville and Randy Choiniere and his wife Jinnel of Fairbanks, AK; and her precious ‘babies’, great-nieces, Brooke Choiniere, Lily Choiniere, Isabelle Choiniere; and great-nephew Nolan Choiniere.
Rita has missed her ‘Gram’ Alida (Grenon) Choiniere every day since she passed in December of 1988. We rejoice in knowing that they are together again with our Father in Heaven.
Aunt Rita had a strong faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she was so happy and thankful to be baptized this past summer. She loved without reservation, always quick to give you a big hug and kiss regardless of how ‘grown-up’ you are. She loved with a passion and recklessness, she would even sing happy birthday to you over the phone! She very much enjoyed helping others and ministering to those who were going through life’s struggles. She has a sweet, sweet soul full of love and joy. She was a prayer warrior who embraced her favorite poem, Don’t Quit.
Rita had a servant’s heart and she volunteered in church functions, even while battling cancer. Years ago, she was a volunteer EMT and firefighter at the Chazy N.Y. Volunteer Fire Department. She filled those around her with laughter, and most importantly, you always knew you were loved.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019, 2:00 p.m. at Martinsburg Christian Center with Rita’s Pastor, Dr. Rick Farley, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can made to Martinsburg Christian Center on Rita’s behalf.
Interment will be private.
