Obituary for Yuri Mary Stankey (Mizusawa)
Yuri Mary (Mizusawa) Stankey, 86, of Martinsburg, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019, at Clary Grove. She is survived by her two daughters, Rose Talarico and Suzanne Higashihama, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and her beloved dog Chibi.
Born on March 11, 1933, in Ueda, Nagano; Japan, she was the fourth of six children to the late Mizusawa Chosaku and Koike Chiyu.
She had various careers throughout her life, from pottery making to owning her own restaurant. After she retired, she became an avid gardener and worked in her flourishing gardens every day. She was also a talented fiber artist and loved to quilt, sew, and create macramé in her spare time.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 3:00 PM, at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 22, 2019, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and one hour prior to the memorial service.
