Obituary for Harry E. "Bud" Rogers, Jr.

Harry “Bud” Rogers, Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the age of 92.

He was born in Martinsburg to the late Harry E. Rodgers, Sr. and Marie Hunter Rodgers.

He was a WWII veteran serving on the USS Twining, a destroyer in the South Pacific Theater. He observed the Japanese surrender to the US on the battleship Missouri in Tokyo Bay.

He retired from the Martinsburg Journal after 36 years as a linotype operator, associate press foreman, and offset cameraman.

He was a Sunday School teacher, superintendent, and deacon at Rosemont Brethren Church.

He is survived by three sons, Dave Rogers and wife Sherry, James Rogers and wife Kenda, Mark Rogers and wife Leslie; one daughter, Susan Davis and husband Fred; seven grandchildren, Amy (Bill) Fultineer, Tracy (Mark) Horner, Brett Rogers, Jamie (Darren) MacLean, Andrea (Maxwell) Morse, Casie Rogers, and Emily (Paul) Merson; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 ½ years, Mary Linton Rogers who passed away on July 10, 2019; two brothers, Lawrence and Jack Rodgers; and two sisters, Wanda Beard and Linda Kaylor.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 11:00AM at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Messer officiating of Emmanuel Baptist Temple. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
