Obituary for Clarence Michael "Mike" Rector

Clarence Michael (Mike) Rector, 85 of Martinsburg, passed away on November 7, 2019.

Born on May 11, 1934 in Fries, Virginia, Mike was the second of two children born to the late Clarence Lester Rector and Thelma Goodman Rector.

After his mother died and his father enlisted in the U.S. Army, Mike lived with his Uncle in Austinville, Virginia, where he graduated from high school in 1952 and joined the Air Force in 1952. He served on many Air Force bases, including the Philippines, Libya, Newfoundland, Tucson, Arizona and Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. While serving at Andrews AFB in Maryland, he met his wife, Jeanne, and was married to her in 1960. He retired from the Air Force in 1963 and attended school in Tucson, AZ, to learn the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration trade. He and Jeanne returned to Maryland where he found work in the Refrigeration trade. He began working at the Goddard NASA facility in Greenbelt, Maryland as an HVAC engineer, where he retired in 1999.

Mike and wife of 59 years, Jeanne have two sons, James Michael, and his wife, Peggy, and John Bradley, both who live in Virginia; one brother, James Bernie Rector of Galax, Va.; and sister, Carol Rector Kinzer of Fries, VA.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 2;00PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
