Obituary for George Franklin Lemaster

George Franklin Lemaster, 81, of Martinsburg passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 at the Berkeley Medical Center.

Born July 4, 1938 in Berkeley County, WV he was the son of the late John William and Elizabeth Bell Kemp Lemaster.

George was a 1956 graduate of Martinsburg High School; a life-time member of Bedington United Methodist Church; and had served proudly for six years with the Air National Guard.

He was retired from Corning Glass Works and was well-known throughout the community as an auctioneer beginning in 1978. He began farming in the Bedington area in 1977. His love for the youth, community, and agriculture was served through the Berkeley County Youth Fair, where he was past-president; he received the honor as a 4-H All Star; and was the recipient of the WV State Farmer Degree. He was the recipient of the Berkeley County 4-H Family of the Year Award.

George was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed watching and cheering for the WVU Mountaineers, NY Yankees, and the Washington Redskins.

He is survived by one son, John “Willard” Lemaster; one daughter Mary “Jeanie” Hamilton and husband, Karl; four grandchildren, John Lemaster, Christian Lemaster, Brady Hamilton, and Spencer Hamilton; one brother, Charles William Lemaster and wife, Keitha; one sister, Anna Virginia “Sis” McKee; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Lee Linton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Jean Stein Lemaster; uncle and aunt, Robert and Pearl Riner; and brother-in-law, Curtis McKee.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, November 11, 2019 with Rev. Scott Summers and Rev. Walter Bowers at Bedington United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
