Obituary for B. Ruth Linton (Armbrester)
Betty Ruth Armbrester Linton, 89, matriarch of Linton Farms, passed away on Tuesday morning October 29, 2019 peacefully at home on Hedgesville Road.
Born November 25, 1929 in Tomahawk, she was the daughter of the late William Dorsey and Mary Elizabeth Burkhart Armbrester.
She was a graduate of Hedgesville High School, class of 1946.
Ruth was a member of Falling Waters Presbyterian Church for over seventy years.
Ruth was a life-long supporter of 4-H and FFA. She served as leader of Hedgesville Live Wires and Tomahawk 4-H Clubs. She was a WV 4-H All Star.
Ruth and her husband Doc were honored as WV Outstanding Farm Family. Ruth was WV AG Woman of the Year, Berkeley County Century Farm, and Hedgesville High School Outstanding Alumni.
Ruth was part of the foundation of the Berkeley County Youth Fair where for over sixty years she worked in the concession stand, served dinners, made apple pies, and could always be seen each August supporting her family at the dairy show.
With all Ruth has done and accomplished she will be remembered as “Grandma Linton” to all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Steven C. Linton and wife Carolyn, Bruce A. Linton and wife Nancy, James W. Linton and wife Robin, and Richard A. Linton and wife Kim; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Arlington “Doc” Linton; a son, Walter L. Linton; four brothers, Charles W., James Raymond, Paul V. and Robert W. Armbrester; and sister, Helen L. Foltz.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Brown Funeral Home and from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at the church.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Falling Waters Presbyterian Church with Pastor John McDonald and Rev. Dr. John Cushwa officiating.
Interment will be in Falling Waters Presbyterian Cemetery at Spring Mills.
