Obituary

Obituary for Elva Rosalie Grove (Brough)

Elva Rosalie Grove, 92, of Martinsburg went to be with her loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 12, 2019.

Born December 12, 1926 in Spruce Pine Hollow, Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late James Brough and Rose P. Kesecker Brough.

Rosalie was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her loved ones, friends and church family. She always had a smile on her face, never complained and selfless. Rosalie brightened the day of everyone she met. She was a true “lady” in every sense of the word.

She was affectionately called “Maw” and “Grover” by her children and grandchildren. She was a great cook who cherished preparing dinner every Sunday for her family. Pies were her specialty and were savored by everyone.

She was a faithful member of the Vanville Church of Christ where she and her husband dutifully served as treasurer for decades.

She is survived by three sons, Michael Charles Grove and wife Amy of Hedgesville, James Bruce Grove and wife Lori of Martinsburg, David Andrew Grove and wife Dawn of Martinsburg, and daughter Harriet Elizabeth Maphis and husband Ricky of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren, Cara Rose, Aaron, Eric, Hayle, Morgan, Drew, Dawson, Jud and Whitney; and seven great-grandchildren, Devin, Aaliyah, Kaylee, Casanova, Jonathan, Paige and Jeremy; a special caregiver, Holly McDonald; and devoted nephew Jamie Jenkins.

She was the last of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Harry B. Grove; beloved sister, Edith Jenkins and infant sister Vera Gimi; special nieces, Elisa Petree and Lori Jenkins.

Family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Nicksich officiating.

Interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Vanville Church of Christ, Thomas Lynn Catlett Memorial Fund 11 Classic Vanville Road, Martinsburg, WV 25405.

Franklin Petree

To the family of Rosalie Grove. Please know that my thoughts are with you as you mourn the loss of your beloved Mother and Grandmother. A truly beautiful person in all respects and one who will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Grieve as you will but may you find some degree of solace in the following thought: "We think of parting; let us think of meeting. We think of going away; let us think of arriving. And as the voice of death whispers 'you must go from earth', let us hear the voice of Christ saying, 'you are but coming to Me'." Surely, Rosalie heard those words and she and her beloved Harry are together again and dwelling in the palace of eternity.. And soon her fellow angels will be enjoying one of the best Thanksgiving dinners they've ever had.
