Obituary for Robert William "Bobby" May

Robert “Bobby” William May, 65, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 at his home.

Born on August 7, 1954 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Carlton Judd May, Sr. and Dorothy Hilliard May.

Bobby served in the US Army in Germany from 1971 to 1974 as a vehicle mechanic. He retired from the VA Medical Center after many years of service. He was employed at Berkeley County School Board of Education as a bus operator.

He was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the Red Man Club in Williamsport, MD, and a member of the VFW. Bobby was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening, music and he dearly loved his family.

He leaves behind his lifelong partner, Sandra Durham; one daughter, Ashley D. Stevenson, and husband, Jon; one son, Chad B. May; one stepdaughter, Melissa A. Cogan; one granddaughter, Valerie Stagner; one brother, Carlton Judd May, Jr., and wife, Roberta; two sisters, Jacqueline “Jackie” Moore, and husband, Steve; and JoAnn Porterfield, and husband Ron; seven nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry Wayne May, Curtis Lee May and Mark Edward May.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with BJ Taylor officiating and Father Alfred Abiudu celebrant. Interment will be at Pleasant View Memory Gardens with military honors.
