Obituary for Susan Patricia Becker (McCamy)
Susan Patricia Becker, 73, of Martinsburg, finished her earthly journey on Tuesday, September 10 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Susan was born in the Panama Canal Zone on August 14, 1946 to the late Calvin and Mabel McCamy. Prior to moving to West Virginia with her husband in 2002, she lived most of her life in the Washington, D.C. suburbs. She taught art in Prince George’s County Schools, MD for 11 years before opening a daycare business in her home in Silver Spring, MD, which she ran for 19 years. In WV she was a substitute teacher in Berkeley County Schools for several years. Susan was an accomplished artist who specialized in interior decorating. She was an active member of the New Hope Church of Inwood and the Apollo Civic Theatre.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Henry, of Martinsburg, daughter Lynley Herbert, Ph.D (Matt) of Catonsville, MD, and daughter Cindy Morrell (Myron) of Kearneysville, WV. In addition, she is survived by brothers Carter McCamy (Rosemary) of Edgewater, MD and Nicholas McCamy (Pat) of Austintown, OH, and sister-in-law Janice Becker and brother-in-law James Becker, both of Montrose, CO. She leaves behind three grandchildren--Theo Herbert, Zadie Herbert, and Adalie Morrell—as well as four nephews and a niece.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
