Obituary for Richard Gordon Grimm

Richard Gordon Grimm, of Martinsburg West Virginia, passed away on Friday, September 6th at age 76 at Devlin Manor in Cumberland Maryland. He was born on February 7th, 1943. Richard was originally from Williamsport, Maryland and was very proud of his hometown. He loved taking rides through the area to look at nature and historical areas. He also liked taking long walks around Williamsport with his wife-visiting both the river and the creek where he was baptized, Conecateague Creek. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the reserves after his honorable discharge. He also spent time working for a tree service and for State Roads. Richard loved animals and nature. His favorite activity was spending time walking around in his yard and getting to know the neighborhood cats. He liked dogs a lot too. Richard was very compassionate if an animal were in distress. He was just as friendly with people, wanting to bump hands with everyone he passed by. Richard enjoyed riding in the car with his wife and singing along to both patriotic and christian music. He would never turn down the opportunity to take a ride. Richard was preceded in death by his brother Dennis. Richard is survived by his loving wife Nellie S. Thompson. He is survived by one son, Richard Grimm of Nebraska. He is also survived by two brothers-Gregory Grimm of South Carolina and William (Billy) Grimm of Maryland. Through his wife, Richard is survived by eight step children and many grandchildren.
