Obituary for Calvin Victor "Chub" Grove

Calvin Victor "Chub" Grove, 87, of Martinsburg, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, August 24, 2019 at his residence.

Born October 16, 1931 in Berkeley County, he was the son of the late Jeremiah Edward Grove and Gaye Bowman “McCloy” Grove.

Calvin served in the US Army and retired from CSX Railroad as a trackman.

He enjoyed farming and raising beef cattle.

Calvin was a regular attender at the Independent Bible Church. He had a strong love for the Lord being an Evangelist and his ministry to children who knew him as the bubble gum man. For many years part of his ministry included driving the church bus and van transporting children to church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Shirley “Triplett” Grove; four daughters, Patty Greenfield and husband Harvey, Cynthia Webster and husband Allen, Karen Caballero and husband Angel, and Sandra Sheers and husband Matt; nine grandchildren, Calvin and Charity Greenfield, Dee Anna Webster, Rachael Wells, Emily Caballero, Rebecca Sommers, Sarah Brown, Hannah Cutler, and Sam Sheers; six great grandchildren, C.W., Kelsie, Caitlyn, Liam, Catherine, and Miles; three brothers, Ronnie, John, and Paul; four sisters, Arvesta, Juanita, Catherine, and Phyllis; and his beloved companion, his dog Daisy.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Nathan and Jerry Jr.

Memorial service Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Independent Bible Church with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating, family will be receiving one hour prior to the service.

To the Grove family
So sorry to read of Mr. Grove's passing. I don't know if you remember me, but Sandy was my best friend at Bedington Elementary. I was Karen Jackson and spent several nights at your house until we moved away. I would love to get in touch with Sandy. I think of her and the rest of you often. Mr. Grove always made me laugh...he was a funny man.
Again, many blessings to you.
