Melvin Stephen Lewis, 70, of Martinsburg, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019. Born on April 6, 1949, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Lee Roy Lewis and Hazel Blanche Frye Lewis.

He is survived by his wife, Constance “Connie” Elaine Miller Lewis, one son, Tony Lewis and wife, Sarah; two grandchildren, Olivia Lewis and Ava Lewis, one brother, Tom Lewis and wife, Betty; one sister, Valinda Sue Shawyer and husband, Jeff.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Shannon Lewis and one brother, Richard Lewis.

Melvin was a loving husband of 46 years. He was a father, grandfather, mentor, and friend. He knew no stranger, cared for all, and had a robust appreciation for life. He was a man of faith, with a deep respect for God’s natural gifts. He relished his quiet time in the garden and loved the seasons. He filled those around him with laughter, and most importantly, you always knew you were loved.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 4, 2019, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 5, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg with Pastor Bill Ball officiating.

Interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery.
