Obituary for Donald Matthew Staubs

Donald Matthew Staubs, 90, of Bunker Hill, WV, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the Berkeley Medical Center.

Born May 16, 1929 in Harpers Ferry, he was the son of the late Louis H. Staubs and Leona Bell Ingram Staubs.

He was employed as a meat cutter for Esskay, Inc. in Baltimore, MD and was a veteran of the United States Army and a Boy Scout Master in Baltimore for over a decade. He dedicated his life to mentoring the youth and being a positive influence. He was a wonderful mentor to young men in the area helping them build strength and character.

He is survived by his wife, Lavena White Staubs; one son, Dirk Matthew Staubs and wife, Judith; two daughters, Louann Wolf and Cindy Kay Smith and husband, Robert; one brother, Raymond M. Staubs; and one sister, Gloria M. Seal.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Bell Deeds Staubs; five brothers, Gilbert L., Paul F., Vernon D. and Harold L. Staubs, Roland B. Staubs; and two sisters, Ellen Louise Cole and Beulah N. Billman.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 26, 2019 at the chapel.

Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
