Obituary for Phyllis J. Johnson (Knipe)
Phyllis J. Johnson, 88, of Martinsburg, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019.
Born on September 21, 1930, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late George W. Knipe and Pauline Baker Knipe.
She was a 1948 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She worked at the Department of Agriculture, the IRS in Martinsburg then ended her IRS career in Washington, D.C. After retirement she went to work for the Berkeley County Assessors Office and retiring recently.
She is survived by one son, Tom Johnson and wife Harriet; one brother, G.W. “Bill” Knipe; two sisters, Janet McBee and husband Legarde and Barbara Brittingham; one granddaughter, Rachael Legg and husband Cody; one great-grandson, Landon Legg; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Sanbower Johnson and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Rick E. Johnson.
Services and interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle at 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
