Obituary for Kenneth E. Howard

Kenneth E. Howard, 79, of Emmitsburg, MD passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019.

Born December 30, 1939 in Baltimore, MD he was the son of the late John and Helen Howard.

He was a member of Eylers Valley Chapel in Emmitsburg, MD. He remembers his oldest brother, Edward who was killed in action.

He was a life-long educator; having graduated from Poly Technic Institute in 1958, graduate from Towson State Teachers College, graduate of Morgan State College, and finally graduated from University of Maryland. He taught in Baltimore city schools his whole life; taught part-time in Frederick Community College at Maryland Correctional Institute and HCC; and retired from Frederick County Public Schools. He majored in physics, physical science, and chemistry.

He was a man of God and was loved by all; he taught the word and lived the word; and was especially devoted to his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife Regina Howard Wiest; two sons, Kenneth E. Howard and Joseph K. Howard; two daughters, Mary B. Shriner and husband David, Amy E. Castillo and husband Jose’ A. Castillo, Jr.; nine grandchildren, Lindsey, Joshua, Bethany, William, Matthew, Andrew, Luci, Tina, and Hannah; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Shirley Summers, Joan Summers, and Nancy Howard.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, William, and John Howard; and two sisters, Anna Ervin and Doris Knight.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 1:30PM at Eylers Valley Chapel with Jeff Walters officiating.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Eylers Valley Chapel Cemetery.
