William L. (Buddy) Stephens, III died on June 26, 2019 at Winchester Medical Center.
Born March 14, 1946, in Martinsburg he was the son of the late William L. Stephens, Jr and Virginia Trenary Stephens.
He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School, class of 1964 and attended West Virginia University.
Early in his work life, he was employed at Firestone in Martinsburg. Later, he began a long career with General Electric in Winchester, VA. After his retirement from GE with RESA and for the Berkeley County Recycling Program.
Buddy loved being outdoors. Two of his major hobbies were walking and gardening. He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for many years and especially enjoyed singing in Trinity’s Chancel Choir.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Janet Morris Stephens, his son, Thomas Brent Stephens of Washington, DC, his sister, Virginia Stephens Reisenweber and her husband Dr. Harvey D. Reisenweber; three nephews, Andrew, John and Matthew Reisenweber and one niece, Elizabeth Reisenweber Welch.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy M. Stephens.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Walker officiating.
Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
