Obituary for Mark Edward May

Mark Edward May, 55, of Shepherdstown, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 as a result of a car accident.

Born January 1, 1964, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Carlton Judd May, Sr. and Dorothy Hilliard May.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Shepherdstown.

Mark had been employed with Handy and Harman until 1996, also the C&O Canal and currently with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Washington Aqueduct Division, as an Equipment Engineer Operator.

Mark was caring, he loved Christmas, preparing oysters, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed buying special gifts for his precious mother and sisters. He loved the Redskins and West Virginia football, old country and motown music and hunting with his close friends. Mark was a special good ole soul. He enjoyed driving old country roads, taking in scenic routes, and having an annual wood cutting party at his house.

He is survived by two brothers, Carlton Judd May, Jr. and wife, Roberta, Robert William May; two sisters, Jacqueline “Jackie” Moore and husband Steve, Jo Ann Porterfield and husband, Ron; nine nieces and nephews, Jason May, Tracey Clark, Justin Miller, Butch Beard, Ashley Stevenson, Chad May, Brandy May, Curtis May, and Jessica May; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Wayne May and Curtis Lee May; and two nephews, Carl III and Chris May.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the funeral home with Reverend B.J. Taylor officiating. Interment will be held in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
