Obituary for Rosalee L. Ettinger (Gano)

Rosalee L. Ettinger, 96, of Martinsburg, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born November 11, 1922, in Martinsburg WV, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence M. Gano and Edna “Wagner” Gano.

She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School Class of 1940. She was employed at Perfection Garment Company, Fairchild Aircraft and was a member of the Rosie the Riveter Association, Ginger’s Flower Shop, and Kings Daughters Hospital. She was also a volunteer at City Hospital for over 20 years and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was very active in various capacities at the church.

Her happiest times in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed being a member of “Enjoy Growing Older Club” and traveling.

She is survived by two sons, Richard B. Ettinger and wife Carol, David E. Ettinger and wife Lori; daughter, Deborah D. Carrier and her husband W. “Andy”; three granddaughters, Jennifer A. Betancourt and husband Raul, Laura B. Wood and husband Andrew and Megan N. Lilly; grandson Christopher A. Carrier and wife Lindsey; and two great-granddaughters, Adeline P. Wood and Everly M. Carrier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Brooke E. Ettinger, who passed August 30, 1973; they were married February 21, 1943 in Hagerstown, MD; and a brother Morrison W. Gano.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Matthew Day officiating.

Interment will be held at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
