Obituary for Gerald E. Staubs

Gerald E. Staubs, (85) of Inwood, passed away at home on Monday, May 13, 2019 after a relatively short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family as he slipped from his earthly life into his eternal life.

Gerald was a 47-year member of Fellowship Church of the Brethren and a current member of Mountain View Church of the Brethren. He loved his church and his commitment to service was exemplary.
Gerald was a proud United States Army veteran, a 42-year employee of Corning Glass Works, and operated Staubs’ Lawnmower Repair shop.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Donna Jean Staubs, three children: Michael E. Staubs (and wife, Elizabeth), Robin R. Staubs (and husband, Dennis Girard), and Patricia Hamilton (and significant other, David Coddington). Additionally, he is survived by four grandchildren: Joshua K. Staubs (and wife, Sasima), Sara Spurgeon (and husband, Monte), Michelle Staubs (and fiancé, Clinton Pereschuk) and Jaime Coddington, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his granddaughter, Angela Burchette.
In his earlier years, Gerald was an avid hunter and greatly enjoyed the time he shared with his family. He was a true lover of gospel music and often sang his favorites.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 18, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.
