Obituary for Roy Richard "Dickie" Parsons
Roy Richard “Dickie” Parsons, 70, of Glengary passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Berkeley Medical Center.
Born September 26, 1948 in Martinsburg, WV he was the son of the late Roy Proctor “Tut” and Evelyn Louise Dunham Parsons.
He was retired from Mack Truck and Parson’s Building. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Church; and a member of the Back Creek Valley Jr. Order Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Kay “Gerry” Pence Parsons; two sons, Brock Parsons and wife Kathy, Rick Parsons and wife, Patricia; four daughters, Lorie Butts and husband, Larry, Bonnie Shirley and husband, Kevin, Nikki Fyke and husband, Lenny, and Ginger Howard and husband, Jeff; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter, Shelby Cook.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood. A Junior Order Lodge memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the South Berkeley Chapel with Rev. Charles Conley, Pastor Erik Kisner, and Rev. Charles Gower officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
