Obituary for Emily Sibole (Painter)

Emily Painter Sibole, 79, of Hedgesville passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Winchester Medical
Center.

Born January 27, 1940 in Frederick Co., VA she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Ruth Lewis Painter.

Emily was a 1958 graduate of Musselman High School, where she was awarded a scholarship to Shepherd College. Emily was employed at the Clearbrook Woolen Mill and John’s Pool Supply. She was also very active in her sons’ lives, including being a Den Mother for their Cub Scouts and a member of the PTA. Additionally, she was active in her community, including assisting with the Children’s Choir at Inwood United Methodist Church, a member of the South Berkeley Firehall Women’s Auxiliary, and most recently the organist for the Mountain View Baptist Church.

Emily had many hobbies, some of which included painting, needle work, reading, and puzzles. She also enjoyed being outdoors, which was evidenced by the many flower gardens around her home. Additionally, she loved supporting and watching her sons and grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals, and other activities. She also loved her dog, Mitch.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, David E. Sibole; three sons, David Jeffrey Sibole and wife Lori, Michael L. Sibole and wife Holly, and Ronald L. Sibole and wife Bethany; six grandchildren, Sara Whitmer and husband Bryan, Jessica, Lucas, Griffin, Trenton, and Jenna Sibole; four great-grandchildren, Camdyn Sibole, Delaney, Alex, and Colton Whitmer; and three sisters, Martha Lantz, Mary Rauch, and Joyce Hockenberry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Clifford and Josephine Sibole; and brothers-in-law, Paul Sibole, Robert Lantz, and James Hockenberry.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 12:00PM with Rev. Joseph Craig and Rev. Ted Hall, Ph.D. officiating at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.

Family will receive friends from 11:00AM to 12:00PM prior to the service.

Interment will be in Gerrardstown Cemetery.
