Obituary for Elocadio Rojas Urias Sr.

Elocadio Rojas Urias, Sr., 89, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Berkeley Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born on December 9, 1929 in Three Rivers, TX, he was the son of the late Jose and Sara Rojas Urias. He proudly served for 24 years in the U.S. Air Force as air traffic controller, retiring in 1971 at the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Following military service, he worked at Mack Truck for 10 years and then for many years at Shenandoah Health as a translator and driver.

Elocadio was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Inwood, and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg, where he assisted with the Spanish language ministry. He was an affiliate of the Daughters of Charity. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family, and was a devoted Baltimore Orioles fan.

He is survived by seven children, Sara Martin (Gary-deceased), Lucky Urias, Joe Urias (Carla-deceased), Debbie Albright (Ronnie), John Urias (Mary), Cindy Lewis (Kevin), and Sue Mumaw (Tim). Also surviving twenty-five grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren and six siblings. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

Elocadio was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Ada Magdeline Urias on February 20, 2019. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 5 siblings and one great grandson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Leo Catholic Church at 2109 Sulphur Springs Rd., Inwood, WV, Rev. Father Alfred Obiudu, celebrant. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
