Obituary for Charles Leroy Thorne, III
Charles Leroy Thorne III, 74, of Martinsburg, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Berkeley Medical Center.
Born August 20, 1944, in Washington DC, he was the son of the late Charles Leroy Thorne II and Ruth Raffo.
Leroy served as an MP in the Air Force, he was a physical education teacher for many years and worked for the Maryland Lottery until retirement. He loved his family and spending every summer at his cottage, on Halls Lake in Ontario, Canada.
He is survived by two sons, Charles “Joey” Thorne IV: daughter-in-law Jennifer Noll of Martinsburg, and Douglas Mason Thorne of Silver Spring, MD; granddaughters, Emma Skylar Thorne, and Cara Nicole Mason; grandson, Ryan Douglas Mason; and great-granddaughter Riley. In addition, he is survived by his ex-wife Bonnie Westbrook Thorne.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frankie and Steve Thorne; and one sister, Maryann (Tootsie) Thorne Brewer.
Services and interment are private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
