Obituary for Wilbert Delbert "Del" Hanlin

W.D. (Del) Hanlin, WWII Veteran

Wilbert Delbert (Del) Hanlin, 94, passed away peacefully at home April 16, 2019.

He was born in Gormania, WV to the late Edna and Thomas G. Hanlin and was married to the late Velma F. Baker-Hanlin for 61 years, passing in 2015.

Living primarily in the Martinsburg area for many years, he had been living with his son in Tonawanda, NY more recently.

Serving in the United States Army during WWII, he was a paramedic, stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. Mr. Hanlin worked for the Potomac Edison company most of his life and was a 50 year + Mason in the Masonic Lodge in Petersburg, WV. He belonged to various organizations throughout the Martinsburg area and enjoyed traveling across the globe with his family.

Mr. Hanlin is survived by his son, one brother, one sister, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery in Romney, WV at approximately 2:00 p.m..
