Craig, I just learned of your father’s and mother’s deaths. I only met your parents briefly on our visit to their home in 1996, but I remember them both very fondly. I remember playing pool with your dad and the true hospitality of your mother. I mentioned to her how much I loved the sound of the crickets at night in their back yard. When we were leaving she had made Virginia ham sandwiches and handed me a cassette tape that she had recorded for me of the crickets chirping from their yard at night. I learned a lot of American history from the day excursions to Gettysburg and Mount Vernon. Your parents were both remarkable, lovely and generous people. I am so sorry for your loss.

Craig, I knew Del back in the 1980's from Potomac Edison. My career was just starting and Del would be retired in two years. Delbert had a great sense of humor--he always made me laugh. He was adventurous and went skiing with Vel at a very late age. I remember when he won $10,000 in the WV lottery. I thought that he would live to a very ripe age and he did. He talked about you living up in Buffalo at the time. Very sorry to hear of his death!
