Obituary for Richard Levern Payne
Richard Levern Payne, 83, of Martinsburg, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Hospice Inpatient Facility.
Born September 8,1935, in Morgan County, WV, he was the son of the late Charles W. Payne and Mazie (Fox) Payne.
He was a member of the Johnsontown Church of the Brethren, where he had served in a variety of positions over the years. He was formerly employed by Hedgesville Grocery and Schmidt’s Bakery. In 1993, he retired from General Motors Company, where he had been employed as a unitizer.
He is survived by one brother Sylvester W. Payne and wife Lillian of Montour Falls NY; one nephew Gary Weigle and wife Elizabeth from Martinsburg WV., and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Arlene Payne; one son Larry D. Payne; two sisters Bessie Weigle, and Geraldine Gletner; and one brother Herbert Payne.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
